What approaches do you use and who can access your services?
At Solcity Therapy and Wellness we utilize person-centered, experiential and more generally bottom- up psychotherapeutic techniques. This is because we believe in a mind-body perspective. To be more specific we use, Emotion-Focused therapy (EFT), Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness and meditation, polyvagal theory, and other experiential techniques. We offer our services to adult individuals and couples 18+ in Ontario including individuals identifying as LGBTQIA+. We offer support to individuals and couples who have experienced trauma, been diagnosed with PTSD or CPTSD, are struggling in their relationships due to conflict or communication concerns, concerns with intimacy/ incompatible sex drives/ or difficulties with trust. As we understand that people come from diverse walks of life we strive to empower personal growth and healing in all those we meet. We also assist people with life transitions, depression, anxiety, and growing your self-awareness to help you cope with life’s often unexpected stressors.
What might I expect from the therapy process?
There is no specific length of time we promise clients might take to complete therapy. Therapy is a personal journey and each individual and/ or couple takes their own time depending on the collaborated and agreed upon plan they make with their therapist. Depending on your needs, together we will find an approach that best suits you.
In our first session, we identify policies and expectations of therapy, answer any questions you might have, review consent/ confidentiality/ limitations/ Risks and benefits/ financial agreements for therapy. We’ll also identify your general health history, review relevant information, identify goals and discuss a potential plan. In our second session we begin working towards your goal and doing the work. With couples, things work a little differently as we’ll address everything previously mentioned as well as balancing the needs of both individuals in the couple.
